Advice from the Development team – The Secret to Winning in the Tower!
For those who desire to win, 4 special teams have been prepared to give players and idea of what kind of teams work best in the Tower. For example, many beginners do not know that, in the Tower, unlike normal adventures, it is actually beneficial to create teams with different types, rather than your regular mono-type teams.
For these examples, characters that cannot be obtained during at the moment, such as Musou characters, have been excluded as much as possible. These teams are just an example, you should work with the units you currently have available to you.
Team #1 – The Poison Party
A team that focuses on “Poison” damage using the new character [Wisteria Scented Smile] Shinobu Kocho who was released during the current celebration.
Tanjiro & Giyu allow you an extra tap during your first turn. Connect bubbles to make 2 Skill bubbles on the board, then use your Buddy skills to buff yourself up.
In slot 2, use your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Shinobu.
In slot 3, you only need to use 1 Skill bubble for Sena. Use your supports to help set up for slot 4.
In slot 4, use your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Sabo.
Team #2 – The Normal Attack & Shock Party
A team that focuses on surviving until slot 4’s turn in order to deal large amounts of damage at once.
In slot 1, use your Buddy skills then make sure to use 1 Skill bubble to activate Tezuka’s skill so that you can absorb the opponents Attack UP buff.
In slot 2, use your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Sena.
In slot 3, use your 2 of your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Killua. Use the last Buddy skill so you can leave an extra Skill bubble for slot 4.
In slot 4, use your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Killua & Hiei.
If you have [The Emissary of Justice from Hell] Meisuke Nueno and Yamato you can swap them in for slots 2 & 3 to make this team stronger.
Team #3 – The Super Strength Party
A team that focuses on dealing incredible amounts of damage with slot 3.
In slot 1, use your Buddy skills and the board to accumulate as many Skill bubbles as possible.
In slot 2, use your Buddy skills and the board to accumulate as many Skill bubbles as possible.
In slot 3, use your Buddy skills then burst as many Skill bubbles as possible.
In slot 4, use 2 of your buddy skills and the board to create Skill bubbles and then burst as many of them as possible. Finish with Torpedo Girl, her buddy skill absorbs Skill bubbles so she can make sure any remaining Skill bubbles get used.
Bubble Protection provided by [Wisteria Scented Smile] Shinobu Kocho helps this team thrive, if you have another one of the Bubble Protection units like [King of the Pirates] Gol D. Roger or Lemillion & Eri, adding them or swapping them in can give you more options for the rest of team.
For example, if you include Lemillion & Eri as a slot 2 Buddy skill, you may want to include an Aqua (Blue) unit like Joseph & Caesar in your team if you have them available.
Alternatively, if you keep Shinobu in and have strong Wood (Green) units like [Closed Eyes] Shusuke Fuji and/or Fukki you can bring them into the team to make it stronger.
Team #4 – The Buff Removal Party
A team that focuses on minimizing damage taken and removing the opponent’s buffs.
In slot 1, use your Buddy skills and the board to accumulate as many Skill bubbles as possible.
In slot 2, burst 1 or 2 Skill bubbles as use your Buddy skills and the board to accumulate as many Skill bubbles as possible.
In slot 3, use your 2 of your Buddy skills then try to connect as many Skill bubbles as possible with Asta. Use the last Buddy skill so you can leave an extra Skill bubble for slot 4.
In slot 4, use 2 of your buddy skills and the board to create Skill bubbles and then burst as many of them as possible. Finish with Torpedo Girl to make sure any remaining Skill bubbles get used.
Tower FAQ
Players ask us many questions about this gamemode so here are the answers to a number of the most frequently asked ones.
Q1. Can you still win in the Tower with an auto-generated team?
You can still win with an auto-generated team, however, if you want to improve your win-rate you need to take into consideration the individual skills of each unit and how they work together.
Q2. Should I be choosing the random “Hidden” opponent?
If you select the Hidden opponent, you will have the chance to earn more points. However, it will be difficult for you to win if your team is not organized properly.
If you are a newer or less experienced player, it’s better to start with the opponents whose teams you can see. First, compare slots 1 to 4 of your opponents team with your own, then try to form a team that will give you the upper-hand in terms of type advantage.
Q3. Do you have any recommendations for who I should choose for each slot?
Broadly speaking, the 1st slot has the role of buffing your team and accumulating Skill bubbles and the basic tactic is to burst the Skill bubbles with slots 2-4 to deal a large amount of damage.
In the 1st slot, it’s good to choose a turn 1 Double Tap unit, this will allow you to generate 2 Skill bubbles by popping bubbles on the board and you will still be able to use all 3 Buddy skills.
In the 2nd slot, there are more options, you can inflict the opponent with a status debuff like Poison or Burn, try to remove the opponents buffs or apply some to your own team.
In the 3rd slot you can also aim for similar tactics to slot 2 but generally speaking, the aim will be to hit hard with a character that has a strong Ultimate Attack by popping lots of Skill bubbles.
In the 4th slot, it can once again be effective to include a Double Tap unit, just remember that different units have different conditions for activating Double Tap. If you used any units that inflict status debuffs in slots 2 or 3 then it can be effective to include a unit in slot 4 that deals boosted damage to units with that debuff. Units that absorb Skill bubbles with their Buddy skill make for invaluable inclusions among your 4th slot buddies.
Q4. What happens if the character in the next slot is a different type to the buff applied during the previous slot? (eg. during slot 3 I used a buff that boosts the Attack of Red team members for 4 turns but slot 4 is a Blue unit)
Once the effect is applied, the buff will remain even if the next slot if a different type. In the scenario in question, it would play out as follows:
- If slot 3 is Red but slot 4 is another type
- The buff will apply for both slot 3 and slot 4
- If slot 3 is not Red
- The buff will not activate
If a buff is aimed at a specific Type or Class, the unit in the current slot must fit the criteria for that buff. Once you move on to the next slot, if the buff was already active on the previous slot and it still has more active turns left, then the buff will still be active.
*Note: some buffs and debuffs such as Guard or Weakening do not stack. The effect with the highest value will overwrite any lower buffs of the same type.
Q5. What is Copy?
The are currently only 4 characters with the Copy ability: Itachi Uchiha, Nightmare Luffy, Chrollo Luclifer and [Hokuto Shin ken Legend] Kenshiro.
The Copy ability takes the buddy skill of the character in the main slot and allows you to use it as this character’s Buddy skill.
For example, using Itachi Uchiha as a Buddy with Gol D. Roger as the main unit will allow me to use Roger’s Bubble Protection as if it were Itachi’s Buddy skill.
